Back to the Basic Farm is an endeavor to establish a teaching farm that focus on a heartfelt dream of going back to the basic of living off the land and inspiring People of Color to grow their own food, establish farms, land ownership and encouraging self-sufficient communities by supplying healthy foods in local areas, areas with food deserts and improvise areas in the United States
Vision
Our vision is to inspire People of Color to become self-sufficient farmers and landowners while producing healthy farm products for families and local communities.

Mission
Our mission is to inspire people of color to acquire land, grow food and establish farms while maintaining and contributing to sustainable communities.

What is the reason this mission is so important? I am glad you asked.
According to the USDA people of color own a lesser amount of land, acreage and land value in the US. This fact needs to change. Back to the Basic Farm expectation is to impact this circumstance through education, community involvement and support.
It is of great importance for people of color to be a driving force in the economic and health of our communities. Many of the communities that have a lack of healthy food choices occur in communities of color.
Why this endeavor is important to me.

This endeavor is heightened from my up bringing in Alabama whereas growing up most of our food was either grown in our gardens, supplied by our family from the back country of Alabama in which we pilgrimage to gather stables for the winter or was given to us from our neighbors. I can’t think of a time when we went to the grocery store to buy fruit as most of the fruits, we ate was simply fresh off the tree. I share this story because several years ago it was a stable for People of Color to grow their own food and more importantly this way of feeding our families prove to be a healthy choice of living.
Today few people of color grow their own food and many people of color have not begun to take a hard focus on the contaminants in our food. More importantly, my belief is home grown food has a positive impact on the health and life endurance in our communities. It will take a village to make a strong impact so I am hoping you and I can work together to make positive change in our communities.
